We hielden eerder een warm pleidooi voor Organische SEO. In deze reeks helpen we je dit met concrete tips in de praktijk brengen.

Juist gebruik CMS : Het Publiceren
Je steekt heel wat moeite in het schrijven van webcopy. Jammer genoeg wordt deze vaak teniet gedaan door fout gebruik van het systeem waarmee deze teksten online worden gezet. (CMS) We overlopen de meest courante functies, en helpen je deze juist te gebruiken.
Publiceren delen we voor de handigheid op in twee luiken:
- Het opmaken van je tekst.
- Het gebruiken van extra CMS functies.
Het opmaken van je tekst.
Tekstopmaak is online uitermate belangrijk. Het helpt de ongeduldige online lezer snel je content te scannen, en het geeft zoekmachines een beter idee van de inhoud en belangrijke keywords. Hoe vertaal je deze noden naar de praktijk?
- De titel van je pagina.
Wanneer je een artikel publiceert heeft je CMS waarschijnlijk een apart veld voorzien voor de hoofdtitel. Deze titel wordt – met een beetje geluk – automatisch gebruikt als titel van de pagina, en als basis om de url aan te maken. Er zijn echter een aantal zaken waar je zelf op moet letten:- Gebruik het belangrijkste keyword in de titel.
- Hou de titel korter dan 10 woorden.
- Vermijd vage titels. De titel zal ook in de zoekmachines verschijnen als link naar deze pagina. Hou het zo concreet mogelijk.
- Tussentitels van paragrafen.
Tussentitels hebben je gebruiker om het overzicht te bewaren. Bovendien tonen ze de lezer wat hij in bijhorende paragraaf van inhoud kan verwachten. Een aantal aandachtspunten:- Gebruik het belangrijkste keyword van de komende paragraaf in de tussentitel.
- Hou de tussentitel korter dan 7 woorden.
- Schep geen ijdele hoop, beschrijf enkel wat de lezer écht terug zal vinden in de komende paragraaf.
- Vet alleen is niet genoeg. Maak gebruik van de <h2> en <h3> tags om een tussentitel aan te duiden. Ook zoekmachines houden hier rekening mee!
- Opmaak van paragrafen
Bij het schrijven van online tekst probeer je ellenlange paragrafen te vermijden. Om een paragraaf toch leesbaar te houden kan je gebruik maken van enkele opmaak functies:- Tekst in het vet zetten.
Helpt om de essentie in een paragraaf extra in de verf te zetten. Probeer dit niet teveel te gebruiken om inflatie tegen te gaan. Als alles vet staat gaat het effect verloren. Zet je toch iets in het vet, let er dan op dat ook je belangrijkste keywords in die zin worden gebruikt. - Lijstjes (Ongeordende & georgende lijsten.)
Mensen zijn – zeker online – gek van lijstjes. Deze korte snippets overzichtelijke tekst zijn makkelijk consumeerbaar. Pas ze zoveel mogelijk toe om structuur in het geheel te brengen. - Gebruik van links (intern & extern)
Spreek je over een specifieke term, een onderzoek, een eigen dienst of een zelfgeschreven blogpost, aarzel dan niet om er meteen naar te linken. Meer tips over het gebruik van links lees je onder het volgende punt.
- Tekst in het vet zetten.
- Correct invoegen van links en afbeeldingen
Links en afbeeldingen maken je tekst dynamisch en internet-waardig. Hanteer onderstaande basisregels om ze optimaal te laten presteren:- Link openen in een nieuwe pagina of in de huidige pagina?
Standaard worden externe links – naar andere websites – in een nieuwe pagina geopend, en interne links binnen de huidige pagina. Natuurlijk kan je hier steeds naar eigen inzicht van afwijken. - Welke tekst gebruik je om naar een andere pagina te linken?
De woorden waarmee je naar een andere pagina linkt worden door zoekmachines gebruikt om de bestemmingspagina beter te kunnen interpreteren. Zorg dus dat je belangrijke keywords meegeeft aan de zoekmachine. Gebruik zo weinig mogelijk: “Meer informatie over bezoekersanalyses vind je hier.” en zoveel mogelijk: “Lees meer over onze periodieke bezoekersanalyses.” - Gebruik van alt & title tags.
In vele Content Management systemen heb je de mogelijkheid om bij een link of afbeelding een title of alt tag te specifiëren. Gebruikers krijgen deze te zien wanneer ze met hun cursor boven de link of de afbeelding staan. Vul deze tags consequent in met relevante informatie. Geef meer informatie over de afbeelding, of over de bestemming van de link. Deze informatie wordt ook door zoekmachines opgepikt!
- Link openen in een nieuwe pagina of in de huidige pagina?
Verder is er nog één levensbelangrijke regel: Plak geen tekst rechtstreeks uit je tekstverwerker in je CMS! Is er geen ‘paste as plain text’ functie in je CMS, copy-paste de tekst dan eerst naar kladblok om ze dan in je CMS te plaatsen. Zo vermijd je vervuilde code, en een verprutste layout.
Het gebruiken van extra CMS functies.
Veel Content Management systemen bieden in het kader van SEO één of meerdere van onderstaande functies aan aan hun gebruikers. We helpen je ze juist te gebruiken.
- Meta description
De meta description wordt door zoekmachines regelmatig gebruikt om weer te geven in de zoekresultaten. Je krijgt ze te zien onder de link naar je pagina.
Je kan de meta description dus gebruiken om bezoekers te overtuigen op je link te klikken. Let hiervoor op onderstaande zaken:
- Probeer de zoeker niet te misleiden.
Als je een bezoeker valse informatie geeft over de inhoud van de pagina zal hij al snel wegklikken om nooit meer terug te komen. Bovendien zorgt het niet echt voor veel kwalitatieve bezoekers, wat ook je positie in de zoekmachines beïnvloedt. - Hanteer belangrijke keywords.
Laat belangrijke keywords die de inhoud van de pagina definiëren ook terugkomen in je meta description. Ze weet de zoeker goed wat hij kan verwachten eens hij op jouw link klikt. - Toon jouw onderscheidend vermogen.
Aangezien je zelf de belangrijke keywords voor elke pagina hebt geselecteerd, weet je waar de zoeker naar op zoek is eens hij je link ziet. Vermeld in je meta description waarom hij voor die zoekopdracht bij jou aan het juiste adres is. - Meer tips

- Probeer de zoeker niet te misleiden.
- Meta keywords
Meta keywords worden steeds minder belangrijk voor zoekmachines. Als je ze invult, laat dan gewoon de meest belangrijke keywords hier terugkomen. Gebruik maximum 10 keywords.
- Custom url
De url of link naar de pagina – of nieuwspost – die je aanmaakt wordt altijd automatisch gegenereerd. Sommige systemen geven je echter de mogelijkheid om deze te wijzigen. website.be/contacteer-ons is immers makkelijker te onthouden dan website.be/3465.php.
Heb je de mogelijkheid om de url aan te passen, en doet het CMS het zelf niet, laat dan gewoon de titel van je pagina hierin terugkomen. Heb je onze regels gevolgd, dan bevat deze meteen ook het meest belangrijke keyword van je pagina.
